Jungle gets season underway

Jungle gets season underway

THE 650-kiloemtre road trip to Casterton more than paid off on Sunday when Eire to the Jungle skipped through wet conditions to record the stables first win for the season.

At just the teams second runner for the 2026/27 season, it was again Will Gordon who held the golden touch aboard the son of Jungle Ruler, who he has now partnered twice for as many victories.

The recipe of wet conditions and leading all the way were again part of the winning formula after an encouraging run behind subsequent Flemington winner Salizou on the Ballarat synthetic the previous start.

The victory was a great reward for owner-breeder Jack Lyons who has long maintained the faith in Eire to the Jungle who survived a bout of colic last year.

While the Lyons family raced his dam Love You Sometime to wins at Sandown and Moonee Valley, his sire Jungle Ruler may explain his love for wet track conditions.

The victory followed on from ten victories last season ass we look to build with moemteuim.

D’Argento gelding Aurum Star debuted with plenty of promise to finish a close-up third at Swan Hill recently while stable star Fieldelo has trialed nicely as she builds towards her much anticipated racetrack return.
