Chalice wins Well at Kyneton

Chalice wins Well at Kyneton

STABLE newcomer Chalice Well provided Lake Racing with two winners in the space of eight days with an ultra impressive winning performance at Kyneton on Saturday.

Chalice Well extended smartly to win eased down by three-lengths and signal a bright future was to follow for the daughter of Squamosa.

It had been a long road back to the races since her debut in January last year for former trainer and now part-owner Danny Curran.

"I've been saving her for a while," Lake told the Bendigo Advertiser.

"Danny had a few issues with her - she wasn't jumping out of the barriers, and when she did, she was missing the start by 10 and 20 metres.

"It's taken a while, but hopefully I've got her sorted.

"She'd been in work for about six months before Saturday.

"Usually it takes them three months to get to the races, but she did double that.โ€

Chalice Well gave the stable plenty of confidence from her trial performances including one with Connor Murtagh in the saddle, with the Irishman back aboard on Saturday and relaying high praise to her connections.

The stable is excited by the future prospects of Chalice Well but will take her through her grades and is likely to race next at Bendigo on February 27.

"There's plenty of upside and I feel she's one of the better horses in the stable."

It makes it two wins and a nose second from the teams last three runners so there has never been a better time to sign up to the mailing list on the homepage and hear first about our next purchases before we offer them publicly.
